Benji is a 5-year-old, 100-lb. purebred German Shepherd dog. He is an owner-surrender to us due to the owner’s serious health issues. Benji’s previous owner has had him for 5 years (since he was a little puppy), as a housebroken, indoor dog. He lived with a tiny Chihuahua female and was very gentle with her. In his previous home he was much loved and spoiled.

This sweet boy walks like a dream right by your side and is pretty well-behaved. If he encounters other dogs on his walks, he does pay attention to them and wants to smell them. Once he bonds with his person he will become protective of him/her, so he will need an adopter who understands his being protective, someone experienced with the German Shepherd breed. Benji needs a solo owner (meaning only one person in his home). Benji is a very sweet boy with his person, follows him/her everywhere and is very loyal – a dog that would do anything for his owner. He lives in a foster home with dogs and cats and does well with all of them. At first, he had to learn how to be around cats, so if there are cats in his new home he will need to get used to them. This remarkable lad will make someone very happy – it just needs to be the right person.
